Victorian Absque Dedecore Signet Ring
Sold!

When we want to identify a rich symbol / coat of arms / mysterious motto on a signet ring, we always consult Fairbairn's Book of Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland. Published in 1905, it's an encyclopedic reference book containing about 50,000 family names. Here, we've identified the Napier family crest. Their motto is "absque dedecore" which means "without stain". Fairbairn's describes the crest thusly: two dexter hands, clasped in amity, holding a dagger in pale. Bloodstone.
