We're fascinated with Victorian mourning jewelry, in which photographs and personal objects were combined to create strange and beautiful wearable objects. Mourning lockets were made to hold visual evidence of the deceased and were worn close to the heart. Similar lockets were exchanged between sweethearts and sailors at sea. Our version is made with embossed, lightly patinaed brass lockets. We combine antique photos with other curiousities to create imaginary stories. Your locket may contain vintage silver sequins, Edwardian hand-written prescriptions, hair, antique lace, feathers, or any other number of found treasures. Each locket clicks open at the top and hangs from a 30" brass double-link chain secured by an antique brass circle-and-bar closure. Plexiglass discs protect the memorabilia inside and can be removed so you can replace our visual choices with your own. This necklace is not water-resistant, so be sure to keep it dry.
