ERICA WEINER JEWELRY
Meteorite Necklace
$80.00
This pendant is a piece of the Campo del Cielo Meteorite, which was first discovered in 1572 by Spanish explorers in what is now the Province of Chaco, Argentina. Scientists believe it had originated within the Asteroid Belt located between Mars and Jupiter prior to the formation of the planet Earth, 4.5 billion years ago. Of all the meteorites that fall to Earth, only about 5% are composed of iron. Of these, the Campo del Cielo Meteorite is prized as one of the most beautiful by both private collectors and museums worldwide. Surprisingly heavy but tiny (only about 1/2" in diameter), this is a wearable piece of outer space that, in our opinion, is more rare and special than a diamond. Chain is oxidized brass and measures 24". Spring ring and endcap are brass. Meteorite is Iron (Coarse Octahedrite (IA).
