Red Patent Leather Bows
$25
Shoe clips were first manufactured in the ornament-obsessed Victorian era, when instead of buying multiple pairs of shoes, women dressed up their plain footwear with an endless variety of detachable bows, buckles, and jewels. Flappers played croquet in rhinestone pairs, fast-talking female reporters clipped them onto their oxfords and Audrey Hepburn used all kinds to embellish her black ballet flats. We've bought up a huge stock of different styles that were probably manufactured in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Each pair is carefully attached to our own card, which was inspired by Edwardian-era button packaging. These red, crinkly patent-leather bows are each 1.5" tall and 2.75" wide. They're big, glossy, and fun. Because they're "pleather" and have a sort of technicolor brightness, I'm guessing that they were produced in the 1960's. Hinged, toothed metal clips are attached at back.
