White Grosgrain Rosettes
$25
Shoe clips were first manufactured in the ornament-obsessed Victorian era, when instead of buying multiple pairs of shoes, women dressed up their plain footwear with an endless variety of detachable bows, buckles, and jewels. Flappers played croquet in rhinestone pairs, fast-talking female reporters clipped them onto their oxfords and Audrey Hepburn used all kinds to embellish her black ballet flats. We've bought up a huge stock of different styles that were probably manufactured in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Each pair is carefully attached to our own card, which was inspired by Edwardian-era button packaging. These white rosettes are made from grosgrain ribbons that have been pleated and sewn into a fluted flower shape. Each measures about 2" In diameter and is backed with a thick cardboard circle and two toothed, hinged metal clips.
