Aesthetic Movement Trompe l'Oeil Silver Necklace

$1,800

Sold!

The repeating, high-coverage silver links are classic to late Victorian jewelry. The matching pendant is pure Aesthetic Movement: asymmetrical and nature-based. A bird perches among grasses and foliage in the foreground, with a tiny boat on the horizon that reminds me of earlier "Such is Life" ship symbolism. The scene has the feel of a Japanese woodblock print translated into silver, which is exactly what the Aesthetic designers were going for. The trompe l'oeil button and buttonhole? Not necessary, but appreciated.
