Art Nouveau Diamond Star Locket

From the 1880s to WW1, western Europe and the United States developed a “New Art” style that took wild, unruly natural forms as its #1 inspiration. This generation of artists desperately wanted to break away from past styles. Art Nouveau’s flowing, unfolding "whiplash" curves may be understood as a metaphor for the freedom and release sought by its practitioners from the weight of artistic tradition and critical expectations. Check out these sensual curves! A sun-set diamond is asymmetrically placed at the bottom.
