A Bavarian "charivari" is a traditional, often inherited, silver chain worn on Lederhosen, featuring animal trophies like teeth, claws, and antlers. Originating in the 19th century as a hunting talisman, it was believed to bring good fortune, display hunting prowess, and signify high status or wealth. The term itself derives from the Latin for a "medley" or "chaotic collection". Amulets were worn in odd numbers for luck.
