Early Deco Ruby & Diamond Cluster Ring

$975

Sold!

When we talk about gemstones, the word "synthetic" now often means "fake" or "inferior". But in the 1920s, lab-created rubies, emeralds and sapphires were a miracle of technology. The Deco era (also called the Machine Age) embraced all things high-tech. Produced via the Verneuil flame fusion method, synthetic gemstones were affordable, had uniform color, and were free of natural flaws. Art Deco jewelers riffed on a futuristic, geometric vibe by using small-scale colored stones cut into triangles, squares, rectangles.
