Edwardian Moveable Skeleton Stickpin

$1,400

Sold!

Memento Mori imagery has been with us for millennia—and it didn’t vanish in the modern age. This Edwardian-era stickpin features a hinged skeleton who can dance at the shoulders and hips, a bit of dark humor meant to jolt the wearer (and viewer) into remembering life’s fragility. The original owner may have appreciated the irony even more once antibiotics came along.
