Edwardian Saphiret & White Paste Man in the Moon Brooch

$925

Sold!

At the turn of the twentieth century, a surge of lunar and mystical interest galvanized into a brief trend of "man in the moon" themed jewelry. This Edwardian fad usually included a moonstone carved into the shape of a face and diamonds to evoke twinkling stars. We love this variation, which was meant to be affordable and fun to wear: saphiret (a type of rainbow-hued glass) is framed with white paste (early rhinestones).
