These disc-shaped earrings were made in the “archaeological style,” that is, inspired by the jewelry found in the excavated ruins of ancient Etruscan cities. Ancient Etruscan jewelers excelled at creating depth and relief in gold using corded wire, filigree and granulation. During the mid-1800’s, when these treasures were unearthed, European jewelers were inspired to create replica jewels using the ancient techniques. Small but mighty, elaborate but classic.
18k gold (tests)
1/2" measured from the top of the ear wire, 3/8" diameter
