Etruscan Revival Turquoise Orb Earrings

$1,500

Sold!

Mid-Victorian jewelers were deeply influenced by archaeological discoveries, and Etruscan Revival jewelry became a way to signal that you were up-to-date with the latest news and LEWKS from the ancient world. These earrings draw directly from that classical aesthetic language. The granulated gold work and orb forms were inspired by ancient Mediterranean prototypes, but filtered through a 19th-century lens. Turquoise was a beloved stones during this period, associated with protection, health, and good fortune. The cut - a pyramid stud shape - remained badass through the 1980s and beyond.
