Georgian Carved Agate Scent Vial Necklace

$2,400

Sold!

A beautiful two-tone gold top was carefully made to fit this vial. Although it looks like blown glass, it's actually carved stone - a stripy, translucent agate that must have been a nightmare to hollow out. The lightbulb shape predates the invention of the actual lightbulb by about 60 years. The contraption was conceived to hold liquid perfume, which could be applied one drop at a time via the tiny perforation at the top.
