Georgian Dendritic Agate Necklace

$6,800

Sold!

Dendritic agate is a translucent form of calcedony (a microcrystalline form of quartz) that contrains branching, tree- or fern-like inclusions called dendrites. These aren't plant material but traces of minerals that seeped into the stone through tiny fractures. Each pattern is unique, like a drawing in stone. The Georgians adored it, because it proved that nature - and therefore God - is an awesome artist. Here, 15 beautiful slabs are attached by gold chains. The jeweler chose to eliminate frames for the stones so we can admire the translucent beauty of each specimen in full. A once-in-a-lifetime piece.
