Georgian Flat Cut Garnet Witch’s Heart Brooch

$1,475

Sold!

Sorry to disappoint you, but witch's hearts - twisted, asymmetrical- were not called witch's hearts during the time they were made and worn. The name is a modern one, which is somewhat unromantic. Yet we are obsessed. This shape, to our imaginations, was meant to convey something subversive, perverse, or sexy from the Victorians, who we (also mistakenly!) perceive as repressed and unimaginative. (And I can hear the line now: You have bewitched me, body and soul...")
