Georgian Our Union Will Be Consummated Memorial Locket

$3,400

Sold!

We imagine this locket is dedicated to a fiancee who died before the pair got to do the marriage "thing". The reverse side is enameled in the same way, but the gold letters on black enamel say "John Bagot Di[e]d 5 June 1753 AG[E]D 53". Hopefully the lover left behind didn't have to wait too long to join her lover (CARNALLY!) in heaven. A truly unique object.

  • Materials

18k gold (tests), black enamel, rock crystal lenses, new 14k gold chain

  • Age

    Dedicated 5 June 1753

  • Condition

Very good - locket would have held hair which was removed at some point in time; enamel has been touched up in places and has obscured the first “m” in “consummated”

  • Size

1 1/8" length including the bale, 1" width, 18" chain
