Georgian Ouroboros Locket

$1,600

Sold!

THE OUROBOROS—an ancient serpent devouring its own tail—represents eternity, renewal, and the boundless cycle of life and death. This Georgian-era locket (c. 1800) would once have held a lock of hair, a tangible symbol of devotion preserved within a serpentine infinity symbol. The snake feeds upon her own form, never beginning and never ending, looping forever. To wear this locket today is a way to honor the connection between love and loss. The great wheel of life turns, just like a hungry serpent.
