Georgian Rock Crystal & Hair Heart Locket

$1,100

Sold!

This tear-shaped locket was made around 1780, at the dawn of the nation we're currently calling America. The lenses are made of rock crystal, not glass, in collet-style settings. One bottom corner of the back lens is cracked but secure. The shape is intended to be a heart: there's no cleft on top, as this was the way hearts were portrayed back then. Inside, chestnut-colored hair is arranged in a complex infinity knot.
