Grand Tour Micromosaic Dove Ring

$2,200

Sold!

THE IMAGE of the dove as a peace-bringer is rooted in antiquity. Its symbolism appealed to Grand Tour travelers steeped in Classical ideas and post-Napoleonic nostalgia. This dove, rendered simply on a rock, was likely purchased by a wealthy traveler at one of the micromosaic workshops near the Vatican in the 19th century.
