Late 19th Century Crown & Serpents Pearl Ring

A GIGANTIC PEARL, crowned and guarded by a snake—Victorians didn’t do subtlety, have you noticed? Made around 1880 in 18k gold, this ring features 11 diamonds (mostly rose and old mine cuts) and 9 rubies. The snake, coiled protectively around the pearl, slithers down onto black-enameled shoulders.

    18k gold (tests), enamel, 11 1.5mm diamond (mix of rose cut and old mine cut with 2 single cut replacements in the top of the crown), 9 rubies (1.2 - 1.5mm), 6.2mm pearl

  • Age

    c. 1880

  • Condition

    Very good - some loss to the enamel; a couple of the diamonds are replacements

  • Size

    7.25, can be slightly resized; 14.8mm head, 1.7mm shank
