Late 19th Century Diamond Wheat Sheaves Bangle

$5,000

Sold!

WHEAT HAS BEEN a symbol of abundance and fertility for eons, with deep roots in Christian imagery as well. This diamond-studded sheaf was once designed to be removed from the bangle and fitted onto another mount - a tiara? A comb? A brooch? Were there many wheat sheaves that could be combined into a majestic headpiece? Long ago, the other components were lost and the screw mechanism was permanently soldered, fixing the wheat to this gold bangle.
