Late Georgian Baroque Pearl & Diamond Heart & Arrow Brooch

$2,800

Sold!

During the Renaissance, Cupid - that mischievous son of Venus - became one of the era's most popular emblems of love. Yet the heart never disappeared entirely. It continued to appear in devotional imagery and in romantic gifts, and by the Georgain period the two symbols were often combined. Here, fifty-five rose cut diamonds adorn the arrow and its surrounding flourishes, while the irregular baroque pearl lends the piece an organic, abstracted quality.
