Late Victorian Crocodile Leather Bangle

$2,500

Sold!

A parrot and a chickadee (?) decorate the hinge of this totally WTF bangle. Lucky clovers frame thick bands of crocodile leather. (The croc? Not so lucky.) I wonder how many of these could have possibly been made? Inside it's marked "Patent J. C & S" which is likely Joseph Cook & Son, a British jewelry and silversmithing firm that operated out of Birmingham during the Edwardian period. They specialized in intricate inlays and novelties, but crocodile leather must have been EXTREMELY novel to an English person in the year 1900.
