Late Victorian Heraldic Unicorn Signet Ring

$3,000

Sold!

THIS LATE VICTORIAN signet ring, crafted in 18k gold and hallmarked in Chester around 1880, bears an engraved image of the Scottish unicorn - a heraldic symbol of fierce strength under control. The unicorn is chained, with a coronet around its neck and what appears to be an anchor-like motif at its chest. In Scottish heraldry, the chained unicorn represents a wild, powerful force made noble through restraint, loyalty, and service. The anchor may echo maritime ties or steadfastness.
