Late Victorian Seed Pearl Horseshoe Ring

$1,600

Sold!

(Lucky!) Thirteen pearls dot this horseshoe, which we all recognize as an ancient lucky symbol. But the luck is doubled by the numerology of the pearls - thirteen was was traditionally considered a lucky number in France prior to the First World War, and was used as a good luck symbol on postcards and charms. The bad superstition surrounding 13 (particularly on Friday) was a modern invention popularized by books and media in the 20th century.
