I've heard these called "apprentice knives", as some of the nicer miniature examples were made by cutlers to show off their skills before they advanced into their own careers. I don't know if all were handmade - this one looks to be at least partially machined and partially handmade. Probably Depression-era to the 1940s. Celluloid body, SHARP steel blade, brass rivets, and I put on the silver-toned period appropriate bolt ring. Total height is 1.5" including clasp, when blade is closed.
