Victorian Aesthetic Movement Heron Collar

$1,800

Sold!

The scale of this necklace is exaggerated. Giant-sized silver links are embossed with contemplative herons, birds associated with patience and watchfulness, able to stand still for hours in water waiting to strike. In the 19th century they were seen as wise and self-reliant. The naturalistic watery setting, and the double decorative diagonal bands are hallmarks of the Aesthetic Movement. Think about what wallpaper Oscar Wilde might have chosen for his home, and add a touch of bamboo. Now you've got it!
