Victorian Banded Agate Fly Necklace

$1,000

Sold!

INSECTS, ESPECIALLY FLIES, held layered meaning in 19th-century English culture. More than just memento mori, flies represented the ephemeral nature of life, the inevitability of decay, and the beauty that can still be found in it. They also hinted at endurance: a creature that thrives despite being unwelcome. This one is rendered in creamy banded agate and holds a larger disc of the same specimen beneath.
