Victorian Bird in the Rushes Citrine Intaglio Ring

$2,050

Sold!

A chick-like bird walks among bulrushes (like cattails, for Americans.) Another bird peeks from behind the stalks. The scene is asymmetrical, offbeat, and very calm. Was this citrine carving supposed to be some kind of allegory? It was set into a gold mount sometime around the 1850s. The citrine is pale and warm.
