Victorian Bull & Coronet Intaglio Mourning Ring

The petite intaglio is emblazoned with the Radcliffe family crest: a bull, young and gentle-looking. Inside the deeply carved band, the engraving memorializes Sarah Adshead Sidebottom Radcliffe who died on March 13, 1856 at age 24. Her grave still stands in Manchester, and reads:

Here Rest Awaiting The Resurrection
The mortal remains of
Sarah Sidebottom
Eldest daughter of George and Mary Hannay Adshead
of The Stocks, Stayley
and wife of John Radcliffe
of Birch House, Lees, in the
Parish of Ashton-under-Lyne
who departed this life
March 13th 1856
Aged 24 years
Jesus Said, Because I Live, Ye Shall Live Also
