Victorian Diamond & Enamel Ribbon Mourning Ring

$2,600

Sold!

MOURNING, but make it sparkly. Maria Elizabeth Pippett died on the 4th of May around 1870 - we don't know what year for sure; the ring was worn so much by one of her family members that the last two digits of the year rubbed off. Wiggly enamel stripes, graduated old mine cut diamonds, and elegant interior engraving decorate her memorial ring.

  • Materials

18k gold (marked), black enamel, 11 old mine cut diamonds (2.5mm - 3.5mm)

  • Age

    c. 1870

  • Condition

Very good - loss to the enamel in a few places; the last part of the engraving is too worn to decipher

  • Size

8.5, can be resized but please note that resizing will likely result in the loss of hallmarks or engraving; 8mm head, 1.8mm shank
