Victorian Diamond Swallow Bangle

$1,750

Sold!

Swallows were one of the most recognizable symbols of the period. They return to the same place year after year, so they represented constancy, safe homecoming, and loyalty to one’s chosen people. Sailors wore them for protection on long journeys, and the motif moved into everyday jewelry as a sign of devotion and steadiness. This late Victorian bangle was made in 14k gold and silver, set with a small swallow picked out in rose-cut diamonds and accented with a tiny ruby eye.
