Victorian Double Sided Enamel Bird Locket

$2,200

Sold!

To a Victorian wearer, birds could have multiple private meanings: devotion, safe return, fidelity, freedom. Add a locket to that, and you've got an intimate jewel that's highly personal. The enameled bird panel was built in layers: a fine gold base, swirly engraved details, and hand-applied pigment fired to permanent glass. The locket opens; remove the dried flowers if you wish and add your own memento.
