Victorian Fossil Specimen Silver Bracelet

$950

Sold!

Paleontology is a relatively young science. By the 1870s, scientists understood that dinosaurs had lived millions of years ago, though their appearance and behavior were still a matter of speculation. A century earlier, fossilized bones were mistaken for the remains of dragons. Fossils of all kinds were appreciated for their beauty, but also for their connection to the deep past. This bracelet displays a collection of seven specimens, at least two of which are fossils (I think I can identify one with crinoids, a type of marine animal, and one with fossilized coral.)
