Victorian Gold Buckle Necklaces

$750

Sold!

Originally rooted in functional dress hardware, the belt buckle motif migrated into Georgian and Victorian jewelry as a symbolic device, suggesting emotional bonds. Rendered in gold, the buckle could signify loyalty - the idea of being “bound” by affection rather than obligation. Two tiny buckle-themed elements long lost from their original larger piece of jewelry were found and strung (by us) on slim gold chains. Wear one alone as a symbol of connection, or add charms to personalize it. Sold separately.
