Victorian “Memory Of” Carnelian Ring

$2,200

Sold!

An undedicated mourning ring dating to the early years of the Victorian era. Possibly a jeweler’s blank used as a shop sample. The classic style is fashioned in gold with gothic lettering along the shank which reads “Memory Of.” The face of the ring is set with carnelian rather than a traditional hair locket. If mourning jewelry fascinates you but you find the death details of a stranger disconcerting, this might be the piece for you. That said, it would also be wonderful to do as the Victorians did and have the name of someone dearly departed engraved along the interior.
