Jewelry inscribed with “Mizpah” (an emotional bond between people who have been separated from one another) was very popular in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The Biblical word was used to express their connection to the departed as well as the living. Here, 20 tiny rose cut diamonds adorn the letters, creating a very sparkly but still easy-to-wear ring. Birmingham hallmark for 1881.
