Victorian Seed Pearl Witch’s Heart Brooch

$675

Sold!

WITCH'S HEARTS - twisted, asymmetrical, and a little strange - were not called witch's hearts during the time they were made and worn. The name is a modern one, which is somewhat unromantic. But these slightly tilted hearts read to us today almost like folk art or amulets. We're slightly OVER the traditional heart shape and it's simplicity. This shape, to our imaginations, was meant to convey something subversive, perverse, or sexy from the Victorians, who we (also mistakenly!) perceive as repressed and unimaginative.
