Victorian Ship & Swallows Enamel Homecoming Brooch

$2,800

Sold!

In the 19th century, swallows symbolized safe return and homecoming. Sailors often tattooed them on their forearms as a promise of survival — if you saw swallows circling from the deck of your ship, you knew land (and safety) were near. This expertly enameled brooch captures that symbolism with the absolute highest level of craftsmanship: a ship sails steadily on choppy seas while multiple swallows wheel and dart above, guiding it safely to shore.
