Victorian Sphere & Crescent Earrings


The ability to use heat for shaping made tortoiseshell an ideal jewelry material in the 19th century. Plastic hadn't been developed yet, but tortoiseshell (from Hawksbill and Loggerhead turtles) had been in use since ancient Rome.
