Vintage Mano Cornuto Pendant

$825

Sold!

"Mano Cornuto" means “horned hand” in Italian; the symbol worn as a charm is meant to protect against the evil eye. It is unclear whether the gesture originated as a symbol of animal horns or a “poking out the (evil) eyes” action, but it has been a powerful and popular symbol for millennia. Heavy Metal fans adopted the hand gesture in the late 20th century, and Gene Simmons of KISS tried (and failed) to trademark it.
